Rail Express Service
It has been promised for a little while and now it will become reality. Our local State Member, Paul Toole, MP, recently announced a new Lithgow express weekday service to and from Sydney which is earmarked to commence in late November. The Lithgow to Central service will stop at Mt Victoria, Katoomba, Springwood, Penrith, Westmead and Parramatta before getting to Central. The return service is the same but in reverse. The morning service will see the express train depart Central for Lithgow at 8.50am (arriving 11.17am), while the afternoon journey leaves Lithgow for Central at 1.18pm (arriving 3.48pm). While this new express train service is welcomed, it does little for those morning commuters on their way to Sydney looking for a faster trip. But it is a positive start and as time progresses, train services will continue to be augmented in line with need. For more information, go to www.sydneytrains.info.
